Community Radio Stations serve geographic communities and communities of interest. They broadcast content that is popular and relevant to a local, specific audience but is often overlooked by commercial or mass-media broadcasters. Community radio stations are operated, owned, and influenced by the communities they serve.
Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is encouraging to establish Community Radio Stations. Government of India has made special budget allocation for the development of Community Radio in India. There are many agencies who are funding to establishment and run such radio stations.
In Odisha Community Radio is getting popular. By the end of 2019, number of such Radio Stations on Odisha is expected to cross 50. NGO/Trust, Krishi Vigyan Kendra or Agricultural University and Educational Organisations can apply for Community Radio License.
As Outreach is working for promotion of Radio in India, it encourages NGOs to establish Community Radio Stations. Outreach provides free consultation for this purpose. If you have an NGO and want to make your own Community Radio Channel, we are here to help. Call us on 7683870813 or mail to mailtooutreach@gmail.com.
